The recent, intensely controversial Supreme Court Senate hearings in Washington brought into sharp focus the deep, apparently systemic (centuries-long …) divisions in American society still remaining over issues of “women,” “sexism” and “male dominance.”
My guest tonight, Dr. James DeMeo, has spent the last several decades studying this problem in-depth — and has come to some remarkable conclusions.
As part of his PhD thesis at the University of Kansas, DeMeo undertook a cross-cultural review of modern ethnographic data. This was the first-ever mapping of human behavior around the world, in the largest ever cross-cultural study so far undertaken.
1170 different cultures, 63 different social variables, all related to “the treatment of infants and women,” “the status of woman, marriage and inheritance customs,” and the presence of hierarchical structures such as “class,” “caste” and “slavery” — with beliefs in a violent god with full time priesthoods of human “enforcers,” and ingrained military institutions.
DeMeo’s controversial conclusions:
The most violent of these societies were found clustered primarily across the Saharasian region of the planet (North Africa, Middle East, Central Asia), in what is today “the Muslim world.”

James DeMeo, PhD
James DeMeo, PhD, formally studied the Earth, Atmospheric, and Environmental Sciences at Florida International University and the University of Kansas, where he earned his PhD in 1986. At KU, he openly undertook the first graduate-level natural scientific research specifically focused upon Wilhelm Reich’s controversial discoveries, subjecting those ideas to rigorous testing, with positive verification of the original findings. DeMeo subsequently undertook drought-related field research in the arid American Southwest, Egypt, Israel, sub-Saharan Eritrea, and Namibia, Africa. His work on the Saharasia question constituted the most ambitious global cross-cultural research study to date, on the subjects of human behavior, family and sexual life around the world. His published works include dozens of articles and compendiums, and several books, including Saharasia, The Orgone Accumulator Handbook and In Defense of Wilhelm Reich. He was editor of On Wilhelm Reich and Orgonomy and Heretics’ Notebook, and of the journal Pulse of the Planet, and co-editor for the German-language compendium Nach Reich: Neue Forschung zur Orgonomie. DeMeo served on the faculty of Geography at the University of Kansas, Illinois State University, University of Miami and University of Northern Iowa. His past or current affiliations include membership in the American Meteorological Association, Society for Scientific Exploration, Arid Lands Society, Natural Philosophy Alliance, Sigma Xi, International Society for the Comparative Study of Civilizations, and the AAAS. He is a former Research Affiliate of the American College of Orgonomy. In 1978, he founded the Orgone Biophysical Research Lab (OBRL), where he continues as Director. In 1994 DeMeo establish the OBRL Greenspring Center, a high-altitude research facility in the Siskiyou Mountains near to Ashland, Oregon, exhibiting optimal conditions for sensitive orgone energy experiments. I just got through listening to it and it was really really great he has some really great insight. I have been subscribing to his website for free for several years now .
The only disappointment I have is I was under the impression that when I got the email that he would be speaking of course I am not up that late that I would be able to listen to it at any time by clicking on that link gone on the email that would be for the full three hours not just the one hour ; so I can understand that there’s a lot of work that’s involved with this, but the way I interpret the email was that I would be or anybody else would be entitled to listen to the whole three hours whether they were member or not .
Women need to stop having sex with men. That is the answer. I think what is missed in this conversation is the woman’s perspective. The idea expressed by DeMeo is that being raised in a loving and un-sexually/emotionally repressed environment is the goal for improving humanity. That may be the case, but justice needs to be served for the wrongs done to womankind (the world over) for an improvement in humanity to ever happen.
I think most women know in their hearts that to become involved with men sexually, professionally, or in any other fashion, usually sets them up for unbelievably huge disappointments, failure to realize their goals, hopes and dreams; humiliation, various abuses of power. In other words, it is usually the stupidest thing they could ever do. Let’s just be real: men are the rain on women’s parades. So, the question I ask is: why do women still involve themselves with men at all, sexually or otherwise? Why do they still get in relationships with men when they know everything is rigged against them in an unequal system? In this world there is no equality between men and women, but women just are too willing to forgive and forget, or to stay in denial. Why? Why do they still get in relationships with men? There is no logical explanation when they know that that it ultimately harms their spirit. But unfortunately women will continue to have passionless, unhealthy sex with men to please society, and society continues to be unhealthy and sexually dysfunctional as ever. I think men have to be held accountable for their abuse of power. Only then will conditions become safe for women to willingly engage in sex with men. Otherwise, they just keep contributing to the problem if they have sex with them. That’s why society hasn’t changed in 5000 years.
