Science and history have divided epochs of human progress into various “ages”–
The “Stone age” … the “Iron Age” … the “Industrial Age” ….
Well, the subject of my discussion tonight with Matthew Bailey — AI, as understood by Dr. Henry Kissinger, former Secretary of State and geopolitical “giant” of the 20th century — is presenting us his view of the grave implications regarding this now imminent “Age of Artificial Intelligence.”
Kissinger warns that — if we don’t get this ‘new age’ right … it may well be the “Last Age” ….
“… I think the technology companies have led the way into a [radically] new period of human consciousness, like the Enlightenment generations did when they moved from religion to reason … It’s a different kind of knowledge in some respects, because with Reason — the world in which I grew up — each [compilation of] evidence supports the other. With Artificial Intelligence, the astounding thing is, you come up with a conclusion which is correct … but you don’t know ‘why!’
“… in some ways, what they have invented is [therefore, highly] dangerous …. “
Question: What do you think is the primary geopolitical implication of the growth of artificial intelligence?
” … if you say, ‘Target A is what I want,’ they [the AIs running your war] might decide that something else meets these criteria even better. So, you’re in a world of slight uncertainty; … since nobody has really tested these things on a broad-scale operation [like, a war …], you can’t tell exactly what will happen when AI fighter planes on both sides interact; you are then in a world of potentially total destructiveness and [simultaneously] substantial uncertainty as to [the ultimate outcome of] what you’re doing ….”

Non Aggression Principle – Foster Gamble
At the civilizational level, forgoing AI will be infeasible. Leaders will have to confront the implications of the technology, for whose application they bear significant responsibility. The need for an ethic that comprehends and even guides the AI age is paramount. But it cannot be entrusted to one discipline or field. The computer scientists and business leaders who are developing the technology, the military strategists who seek to deploy it, the political leaders who seek to shape it, and the philosophers and theologians who seek to probe its deeper meanings all see pieces of the picture. I mean yes, we all know you’re a knowledgeable guy, BUT YOU AIN’T THE EXPERT ON EVERYTHING!!!
This is one of the reasons I quit listening for a while, I just couldn’t take it anymore. I like the content, and appreciate Dick’s enthusiasm, but he should pretend that he is in court where you have to take notes and wait until it is your turn to speak. I think it is counterproductive to interrupt guests just to recite definitions that are available on the web and already known to “coasties”, for the same reason that we don’t hold back the class on account of a couple of retards: there is precious little time to get the data across, and those who need to can just replay the show. However, I’ll grant that Richard’s observations do have some intellectual value, while Noory is basically just playing Gilligan.
ps: a little bit of cannabis might go a long way here.

Hello, Keith. Great to learn that Richard and Matthew want to have artificial intelligence take a look at that spiral of bright points on the Martian plain. Wonder if it will work, but that story in Newsweek about an artificial intelligence trained to examine the triangle on Ceres and finding a weird square structure says the experiment failed. Right?
Matthew mentioned Project Blue Beam. Somebody ought to tell him that Project Blue Beam is not real.

The actual source of the theory is Gene Roddenberry. Why did Richard not mention that fact earlier? Would expect Richard to know that since Richard was a close friend of Gene Roddenberry. Earlier, Richard and Matthew talked about the first Star Trek film which did not resemble Project Blue Beam.

Yes, that experiment did fail to see the unnatural pattern in the structure. Since The Morgan Curve is more mathematical and not shape driven, A.I. Might pick up on it easier than a square with a circle in it. But then, A.I. programming is based on the human prospective. There is so much stuff in Utah that screams artificial, but it goes ignored by all the people passing through the area. Sometimes the obvious gets stepped on because humans place belief before facts. Can you really see people of this world seeing the obvious when it stares them right in the face? This will change with the next generations, but the old school generations will have a tuff time changing their mindset.
Thanks for the reply! I agree with most of what you wrote, but I must disagree with you about the natural rock formations in Utah. Natural erosion can sculpt rocks into all sorts of shapes. The rock arches of Utah look like sea arches, but on dry land. Utah was covered under a sea 300 million years ago. I admit that that one of your photographs does look like somebody carved the head of a vulture on a cliff, but it could be something natural that just looks that way. The only things that can convince me to think those things might be artificial would have to be tool marks found upon closer inspection. Like you said, “humans place belief before facts.”
Honestly reminds me of those authors who want to see sculptures in natural rock formations on a plateau in Peru or those Sphinx shaped natural rock formations in Pakistan and Romania as well as what Julie Ryder in Montana says about rocks in Montana. Keith, you might already know all about Julie Ryder in Montana who met the doctor with all those claims about natural pyramid shaped hills in Bosnia who talked on this show previously, so you must know.
